Refinitiv reported a senior U.S. official said on Friday the U.S. and Iran are
very close to an agreement though not yet at the finish line, and Washington
expects to sign within days. The official said agreed terms in a memorandum of
understanding meet Trump’s core objectives and include reopening the Strait of
Hormuz, lifting the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports, and on-site destruction
followed by removal of Iran’s highly enriched uranium. The official added Iran
would not receive benefits merely for signing; economic rewards would be
provided only upon fulfillment of agreed obligations—for example, surrendering
nuclear material or dismantling nuclear programmes or facilities.
