At the morning close, China’s most-active commodity futures were mixed. SHFE silver fell more than 5% and SHFE tin nearly 5%; SC crude oil and propylene dropped over 3%; benzene, methanol, polypropylene and SHFE gold declined more than 2%. Rapeseed meal, lithium carbonate and live hogs rose over 1%; eggs, glass and DCE No.1 soybean gained about 1%.

U.S. equities opened lower on June 23 (Tuesday): Dow Jones Industrial Average down 358.17 points (-0.69%) at 51,354.54; S&P 500 down 118.80 points (-1.59%) at 7,353.99; Nasdaq Composite down 622.10 points (-2.38%) at 25,544.50.

Shanghai party secretary Chen Jining met Sanofi global CEO Ge Lihe and HSBC chair Nie Zhiheng. He urged Sanofi to leverage Shanghai’s strengths in basic research, talent, market scale and policy support to increase local innovative R&D, place more innovation and global-simultaneous development projects in Shanghai, and deepen cooperation with domestic biotech firms to strengthen the city’s pharmaceutical ecosystem. He asked HSBC to use its global network and expertise to deepen cooperation on tech finance, green finance, urban renewal, cross-border and offshore finance, and support firms’ outbound activity, and to provide input as Shanghai refines a regulatory framework suited to an international financial centre.
