TSMC reported quarterly revenue up 36% YoY to NT$1.27 trillion in the quarter to
June (US$39.6 billion), matching analyst consensus. June sales jumped 68% YoY
and drove the quarter. CEO Wei Zhejia warned that even if the US adds
manufacturing capacity in coming years, TSMC will be unable to meet
US-customer-led demand for years. SK Hynix says the current memory-chip shortage
is likely to extend beyond 2030. TSMC will publish full results on Thursday and
is expected to update its full-year outlook and capex plan.
