China foreign minister Wang Yi and Malaysia foreign minister Muhammad co‑chaired
a China‑ASEAN foreign ministers’ meeting in Manila on the 22nd, attended by
ASEAN foreign ministers and the ASEAN secretary‑general. Wang proposed four
priorities with market relevance: accelerate construction of a China‑ASEAN FTA
3.0 and ensure high‑quality implementation of the RCEP; strengthen regional
resilience by enhancing food and energy security and stabilizing supply chains;
expand cooperation in the digital economy, AI and submarine cable infrastructure
and explore alignment with the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement; and
speed cooperation on climate response, clean energy, green agriculture and the
blue economy.
