The Sansha maritime rescue sub-center said a Vietnam-flagged vessel sank in the South China Sea. Of 62 crew aboard, Chinese rescuers have saved 44 and 18 remain missing as of 1100 on the 26th.

CENTCOM said the US maritime blockade of Iran remains fully enforced. As of July 25 it had forced 12 commercial vessels attempting to breach the blockade to change course, disabled two noncompliant vessels' ability to navigate, and boarded two vessels for inspection to ensure compliance.

Typhoon Hongxia, the year’s 12th, made landfall at about 03:50 on July 26 near Pinghai town, Huidong county, Huizhou, as a strong typhoon (45 m/s, force 14). Its intensity weakened and by 10:00 the center was in Huicheng district, Huizhou, with maximum winds near the center of 25 m/s (force 10, severe tropical storm). Citing the provincial flood/drought/wind/freeze emergency plan and relevant provisions, Guangdong’s provincial flood-control command at 11:00 on July 26 adjusted the wind emergency response from Level I to Level II.
