Carson Group chief market strategist Ryan Detrick said the Fed's decision to hold rates was in line with expectations but the key issue is how much upward pressure there will be at the September meeting. At the same time Detrick cautioned against ignoring recent positive inf signals: housing, apparel and auto price increases slowed last month, suggesting some easing of inflationary pressure. The mix of still-high inf and rising oil versus recent price improvement places the Fed in a difficult policy trade-off.

The US Federal Communications Commission announced import restrictions on foreign-made advanced robots, including humanoid robots dominated by Chinese firms. CHINA said at a routine briefing on the 29th it firmly opposes US moves to broaden national security claims to target Chinese firms, warned protectionism will not raise US competitiveness and will harm US companies and consumers, and said China will take necessary measures to defend Chinese companies' legitimate rights and interests.
