Axios reports two US officials and a person familiar said Saudi Crown Prince
Mohammed bin Salman called US President Trump on Saturday to express concern
about a proposed large-scale US strike on Iran targeting energy infrastructure.
Media reports earlier said Trump was considering strikes in coming days in
response to an Iranian missile attack on a US base in Jordan and continued
disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz; no final order has been issued.
A US official said Saudi Arabia asked for clarity on the plan; the crown prince
urged de-escalation. Qatar, the UAE, Turkey and Pakistan have also pressed the
US and Iran to calm tensions. Saudi Arabia, a key US regional ally, has
influenced Trump’s Iran policy at several critical moments since the war began.
