India will seek parliamentary approval for a package of tax measures aimed at attracting foreign investment and bolstering domestic manufacturing, sources said. Planned measures include formalizing tax cuts for overseas buyers of Indian sovereign debt and a provision that would exempt offshore funds from tax if their investments are managed by Indian fund managers. Parliament will also vote on extending tax breaks to foreign suppliers of equipment to domestic electronics makers and on incentives for data centers and diamond mining. The measures are part of Modi’s push to curb capital outflows and support the rupee, a priority that sources say has gained urgency after the US‑Iran war to help buffer economic shocks and strengthen external resilience.
