CPCA data for July 1-31: China passenger vehicle NEV retail sales 970,000 units, down 2% YoY and down 4% versus the prior month; YTD retail 5.675 mln units, down 12% YoY. Manufacturer NEV wholesale shipments 1,463,000 units in July, up 24% YoY and down 1% versus the prior month; YTD wholesale 8.251 mln units, up 8% YoY. July retail NEV penetration 64.4%; wholesale penetration 65.3%.

By midday close, China's main futures contracts were mostly higher: platinum up more than 9%, palladium up over 8%, Shanghai silver up over 7%, urea, coking coal and Shanghai gold up over 3%, Shanghai lead and lithium carbonate up more than 2%. Lagging contracts included container shipping Europe route down over 9%, ethylene glycol (EG) down over 6%, Shanghai crude (SC) down nearly 6%, benzene down over 5%, styrene (EB) down nearly 5%, and PET chips, LPG and propylene down more than 4%.
