The US State Department said on Wednesday it will launch a pilot platform in
Panama, under a US‑led Silicon‑Based Peace Initiative, to accelerate trade in
goods deemed critical for AI development. Washington will provide up to $50m in
foreign assistance to develop and deploy an AI‑driven platform to speed
logistics and compliance, prioritising high‑value shipments from trusted
suppliers of AI infrastructure, semiconductors and critical minerals across the
AI supply chain and to strengthen allied supply‑chain cooperation. Jacob
Helberg, deputy secretary for economic affairs, said the project is expected to
accelerate logistics and compliance operations.
