Ukraine’s air force said in a social media post in the early hours of the 20th that Russian forces launched a new, large-scale round of ballistic missile strikes toward Kyiv. It warned multiple ballistic missiles were flying toward the capital from Chernihiv and Poltava regions. Multiple loud explosions were heard in Kyiv and a brief power outage hit the Dnipro district. Kyiv’s air-raid warning remained in force.

Aug 20 — China's Ministry of Transport held a briefing on "AI + transport" application scenarios. Xu Wenqiang, director-general of the ministry's Science and Technology Department, said transport is a major economic artery and a large-scale real-world testbed for AI, and that the ministry has stepped up efforts in recent years to deepen AI integration with the transport sector.

Dier Laser told investors on Aug. 19 that its TGV (through‑glass via) strategy now covers etching and AOI inspection equipment alongside its laser‑modification machines. Laser‑modification units continue to win orders and generate revenue; bundled orders for laser modification plus etch have begun to appear and AOI systems are under active validation. The company said it will supply standalone or matched equipment suites based on customer process flow, via geometry, substrate size and capacity needs as it broadens its TGV product matrix.
