Aug 21 — Chinese defense minister Dong Jun met his Indonesian counterpart in Jakarta during the second China‑Indonesia foreign and defense ministers' 2+2 ministerial meeting. Citing strategic guidance from both heads of state, the two sides said bilateral military ties face a favorable development window and broad cooperation prospects; they agreed to consolidate military mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation across multiple domains, increase exchanges at all levels and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.

Taiwan Weighted Index closed up 290.55 points, or 0.65%, at 45,224.29 on Friday, Aug. 21.
