Its center was about 160 km WNW of Xuwen county (Zhanjiang), with peak winds near the center of force 8 (18 m/s). The system is expected to loop in the Beibu Gulf overnight Aug 21–22 and strengthen somewhat, then turn east toward the Qiongzhou Strait from Aug 23 and weaken slowly.
