Commonwealth Bank of Australia FX strategist Samarra Hammoud says Fed chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole remarks will aim to: restore market confidence in the Fed's commitment to curb inflation; allay fears of fiscal dominance; persuade markets that less reliance on forward guidance will not harm financial stability; and bolster confidence in Fed working groups. Hammoud calls the agenda ambitious and warns communication alone may be insufficient, advising market skepticism. Given Warsh's resistance to forward guidance, markets may view his inflation remarks as not sufficiently hawkish; that could put downside pressure on the USD.
