CFTC: Speculative net short positions in the four main natural-gas contracts on NYMEX and ICE fell by 27,238 contracts to 39,598 in the week ended Aug. 25.

Per China Optics Valley, Wuhan Xinxin unveiled a “Chip-Optics” plan. Over the next decade the company will prioritize optical interconnects and 3D compute–store integration, build an internationally competitive specialty-process wafer fab and 3D integration platform, and position itself as a 3D Link–photonics–electronics integration–SOI industrial hub. It seeks to quadruple manufacturing capacity, spur more than 100 billion yuan of upstream/downstream industry activity and recruit or train over 10,000 high-end semiconductor professionals.

President Pezeshkian said under the Islamabad memorandum the other side had pledged to lift the blockade and remove sanctions on banking, oil and petrochemicals and to return frozen funds. He said Iran exported about 90 mln barrels of oil during the memorandum period but cannot do that now. Pezeshkian said Iran would reciprocate if the other party fulfils its commitments and that dialogue continues. He added the other side had planned roughly $300 bln in investment and Iran held talks with Qatar and the UAE to facilitate it, but said ongoing war would prevent those investments.
