Iceland voted against holding negotiations to join the EU, the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service reported.

President Lee Jae‑myung has nominated a new cabinet. The current first vice minister at the Ministry of Economy and Finance was nominated as deputy prime minister and minister of economy and finance. Ruling Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Seung‑won was nominated as justice minister. A former deputy commander of the ROK‑US Combined Forces Command was nominated as defense minister. The current first vice minister at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport was nominated as transport minister. A Progressive Party lawmaker was nominated as presidential chief secretary for AI future planning, and a former Blue House AI planning chief was nominated as vice chairman of the National AI Strategy Committee.

ENI said it is working with Venezuelan counterparties and other relevant parties to support a revival of the country’s energy sector. The comments come as the Trump administration seeks a larger role in Venezuela’s oil industry, including a plan under which the US would control 55% of actual output from a joint venture covering fields with about 65 billion barrels of proven reserves. ENI is also expanding its Venezuelan presence, negotiating new contracts for Junín-5 and Corocoro and recently signing a gas export agreement for the Perla field.
