Iceland voted against holding negotiations to join the EU, the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service reported.

The IRGC's deputy political director told Fars News the US did not start the war over Iran's uranium enrichment. "Those who believe the war stems from uranium enrichment do not correctly understand history," he said. "Those who think if we stop enriching uranium there would be no war either lack accurate historical knowledge or proper analytical ability." He attributed the conflict to US aims to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

At Nepal's request, China's Ministry of Emergency Management on Aug 29 dispatched five tunnel experts by helicopter from Gyirong, Tibet; they arrived in the disaster area at 16:58 Beijing time and were deployed immediately to hydropower tunnel rescue operations. The ministry later sent an additional four tunnel experts to support the effort.
