Hungary’s transport and investment minister said on Aug. 31 the government has completed the legislative and institutional changes required to unfreeze about €10bln of EU funds. The minister said Hungary has met all targets agreed in May between the prime minister and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, including passage of more than 100 laws, creation of new agencies and the launch or completion of key projects; much of the legislation implements EU-requested anti-corruption measures. Budapest plans to direct the funds to rail modernization, affordable housing and student dormitories, water-management projects, and renewable energy and grid investment.
