In pre-dawn hours of Sept. 2, a Hatam al‑Anbiya Central Command spokesperson said US forces recently carried out airstrikes on multiple military and non‑military targets in southern Iran that caused civilian casualties. In response, Iranian armed forces used missiles and drones to strike US bases in the region; the statement said the attacks caused serious damage to US infrastructure, weapons and equipment and inflicted a significant number of US commanders and troops killed or wounded. Iran said military action against the US will continue until the US "regrets" its actions and warned further US moves would be met with a "heavier, broader, more destructive" response; any country cooperating with US forces would face "dangerous consequences."
