Iranian media said Trump again used his habitual rhetoric and false
exaggeration, claiming the US controls the Strait of Hormuz. They said he first
portrayed himself as uninterested in talks, attacked ABC News as lying about
reports he sought to bring Iran back to negotiations, and, seeing large-scale
military aggression and unprecedented economic pressure fail to achieve his
aims, desperately urged Iranians to rise up, writing: "When will the Iranians
people stand up and fight?"
