China's minister of science and technology, Yin Hejun, led a Chinese delegation
to the G20 innovation ministers' meeting in the United States on Aug. 31–Sept.
1, 2026. He said emerging technologies led by artificial intelligence have
entered an unprecedentedly active phase with both opportunities and challenges
and called for international cooperation. China will continue to place science
and technology at the center of its modernization and to expand high-level
technology openness. On AI, China stressed a human-centered,
upward-and-benevolent approach and said it is committed to advancing global AI
capacity building to help bridge the digital-intelligence divide.
