Sept 7 — A team at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Shanghai Institute of Optics
and Fine Mechanics reported progress in multi-dimensional multiplexed optical
computing in a paper in Laser & Photonics Reviews. Building on the Meteor‑1
ultra‑high‑parallel optical computing chip, the researchers combined
wavelength‑division (WDM) and space‑division (SDM) multiplexing with shared
multi‑task matrix networks to create a multi‑dimensional optical computing
architecture that enables parallel multi‑task, multi‑modal processing;
feasibility was validated on remote‑sensing image registration and recognition
tasks.
