Analyst Brian Bingham says the Fed is in a paradox where policy stances now hinge on a single data release — even digits beyond the decimal point. One Fed official at his first press briefing urged markets not to fixate on decimals, yet those same decimal readings are now decisive. Christopher Waller’s unexpectedly dovish Thursday remarks reinforced Bingham’s view that C.BANK members, while not uniform, are generally more dovish than regional Fed presidents; his comments added little new information apart from implying a core CPI MoM print of 0.3% would support a hike. Markets are treating 0.25% MoM as the surprise threshold; if core CPI prints in line at 0.2% after the jobs report, meaningful upside in risk assets looks unlikely. With markets pricing the meeting as having >50% odds of a hike, bond markets may read a decision not to raise as a larger policy-error risk than the damage from hiking on an inflation overshoot.

On Sept. 10 the Private Enterprises Bureau of the China State Planner held a roundtable with private firms and industry associations to collect investment obstacles and promote private participation. The bureau presented 36 projects focused on transport, logistics, water conservancy and energy, with total planned investment of 61.4 bln yuan and proposed private capital of 15.6 bln yuan. Projects cover rail, warehousing, wind power, energy storage, EV charging infrastructure and water diversion; private investors may enter via wholly owned, controlling or minority stakes in project companies. The initiative aims to spur private investment into infrastructure and energy sectors.
