He warned that divided command-and-control and eight competing army factions make it impossible to defeat the Houthis, and that internal strife is the main factor enabling Houthi advances. Basha added tensions within the anti-Houthi coalition have persisted for decades, from the 1986 southern civil war through the 2011 Arab Spring and subsequent conflicts.
