macobserver reported Apple disclosed six iPhone Duo–specific APIs in a technical
briefing, notably an API allowing apps to request a second window
(UIWindowSceneActivation). Apple says iPhone Duo is its first iPhone to support
native dual-instance apps, but the new window can open only on the inner screen,
not the outer display. iOS currently does not natively allow two independent
installs of the same app (e.g. two WeChat instances). Apple’s notes indicate
iPhone Duo should in theory permit two concurrent WeChat sessions with separate
accounts, but practical support has not been verified.
