Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp (aT) said on the 14th cumulative exports of South Korean agricultural and fishery products topped US$10 billion in 253 days this year, 19 days faster than a year earlier — the quickest pace on record. Exports first exceeded US$10 billion in 2021; the time to reach that threshold has shortened each year since.

Asian currencies were broadly weaker in early trade against the dollar as markets expected the Federal Reserve to raise rates. Deutsche Bank research said latest US inflation data was broadly in line with expectations but remains sufficient to bolster expectations of a Fed hike this week; fed funds futures put the probability of a 25bp move at 88% versus 62% a week earlier. LSEG data showed the dollar up 0.3% on the day versus the won and yen at USD/KRW 1,345.80 and USD/JPY 154.06; AUD/USD fell 0.2% to 0.7151.
