U.S. Vice President Vance told the New York Post the U.S.-Iran conflict will enter a "completely different phase" in a few months and could end after the midterm elections, echoing Trump. He said shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is recovering, Iran's control there is weakening, and current transit has returned to over 50% of normal, easing near-term oil-flow risk. Vance said the U.S. is not conducting offensive operations now but is responding to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels. He outlined a two-phase campaign: first to destroy Iran's nuclear program, degrade its conventional forces and regional strike capability; second to prevent Iran from rebuilding those capabilities and to maintain regional stability. He said the trajectory will depend on whether Trump expands operations after the midterms or Iran seeks a deal.
