Malaysia Aviation Group, parent of Malaysia Airlines, is close to finalising an order for roughly 10 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners to renew its long-haul fleet, sources said. The 787s would replace seven leased Airbus A350s and provide room for expansion. Boeing secured the deal in part with an earlier delivery slot from 2031 versus Airbus, and GE Aerospace offered more favourable engine terms than Rolls-Royce, the sources said. High leasing costs prompted the airline to seek replacements. The transaction has a political dimension: last year Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar announced Malaysia would buy 30 Boeing jets with options for an additional 30.
