Acer chairman Chen Junsheng said on the 19th supply tightness for storage and CPUs remains limited to a few specifications, while shortages for other specs are easing. He said elevated, volatile component prices mean end-market PC prices will likely keep rising in Q4, averaging a 5-20% increase, and may not reverse until H2 2027.

The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) said it will simplify market access by optimizing entry rules, improving foundational registration laws and deepening reform of the registered-capital subscription system to lower institutional transaction costs and make firm entry easier. It will also facilitate orderly exits for long-dormant or ceased businesses to ensure market turnover. SAMR will deploy standards, price enforcement and quality supervision to curb 'involution'-style low-price internal competition and push firms to focus on quality and efficiency. Enforcement of antitrust and unfair-competition rules will be strengthened, with upgraded monopoly-risk monitoring and warning capabilities and improved efficiency of merger reviews. For platform companies, SAMR plans tighter oversight of data, algorithms, traffic and platform rules and will hold platforms accountable as gatekeepers while promoting innovation and healthy platform-economy development.

ECB board member Stournaras said the bank must remain vigilant to upside inflation risks but should not act hastily. He sees no second-round, wage-driven inflation effects yet but cautioned that could change amid persistent supply shocks and stronger demand from fiscal expansion and AI investment. With just over a month until the next policy decision he has not decided and will look to ECB staff projections. If September brings an inflation spike or a rise in energy costs that moves the outlook into an adverse scenario, an October rate hike cannot be ruled out; conversely, doubts would argue for waiting for the next projections. He added that this week’s Fed rate increase bolsters Fed and global monetary policy credibility and also helps the ECB.
