Jan–Aug 2026 total retail sales of consumer goods and services in China rose 2.5% YoY. Social retail sales of consumer goods were up 1.1% YoY; consumer goods retail excluding autos rose 2.7% YoY. Service retail sales increased 4.9% YoY, about 3.9 percentage points faster than goods retail. County-level and rural consumption continued to gain momentum, and the urban–rural consumption structure kept improving.
