Five leading German economic research institutes jointly raised GDP forecasts for 2026 and 2027, Handelsblatt said, citing unnamed sources. They now project 2026 growth of 1.3% (previously 0.6%) and 2027 growth of 1.1% (previously 0.9%). The revision was published by RWI, the Ifo Institute, IfW Kiel, IWH and DIW Berlin. The report noted that Germany’s recent economic weakness was a major election issue that aided gains for both far-right and far-left parties.
