Japan's Ministry of Finance (MOF) said it did not conduct foreign-exchange intervention between Aug. 27 and Sept. 28.

Oman plans to more than double oil storage capacity at a port outside the Strait of Hormuz to leverage its strategic location and serve producers seeking to bypass the contested waterway. State-owned energy firm OQ SAOC CEO Ashraf Al Mamari said the company is evaluating purchase of two VLCCs to use as floating storage at Duqm port and intends to raise onshore crude tank capacity from about 5.0 mln barrels to 10.0 mln barrels within three years.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said media reports that Germany and France are drafting a joint paper urging the European Commission to adopt a US-style '301' unilateral trade instrument. The association called such a tool protectionist and unilateral, saying it would not solve Europe's industry transition challenges, would materially affect Chinese auto and battery sectors, and could disrupt China-EU trade and global auto supply chains. It said it is highly concerned and will firmly support the Chinese government taking necessary countermeasures to defend the legal rights of China’s auto industry and preserve a fair, non-discriminatory international trade environment if the EU proceeds.
