The Pentagon has revised upward the number of US service members who died in
Iran-related military operations in the Middle East to 21, the Washington Post
reports, after adding two non-combat deaths to its Defense Casualty Analysis
System. The newly included cases are Army National Guard Maj. Saufley Davious,
46, who died in Kuwait on March 6, and an unnamed Navy service member who died
by suicide in September. The Post last month cited US officials saying
fatalities exceeded the Pentagon’s published totals; Defense Secretary Hegseth
at the time called that reporting “a complete lie.”
