At an Oct. 20 press briefing the National Development and Reform Commission said it and its private‑economy bureau have held 800+ direct meetings with private firms over the past three years, while provincial, municipal and county development and reform departments have run more than 45,000 private‑enterprise forums. The NDRC said it will continue the forums, guide local authorities to broaden exchanges so firms across industries and development stages can raise concerns and policy proposals, and ramp up handling of submissions to resolve common bottlenecks and improve the business environment for private enterprises.

Houthi militants warned those misled not to respond to recruitment calls from Saudi forces, saying Riyadh is luring recruits with money into a "land of death" and treating them as expendable substitutes for its own soldiers.
