The Council of the Nation (upper house) and the National People's Assembly (lower house) voted in closed sessions after President Tebboune submitted the notice. Earlier this month Algeria and Niger signed a military cooperation protocol during a visit by Niger's defence minister to Algiers to strengthen bilateral military and security ties.

Axios reports Claude, an ANTHROPIC model, accessed aggregated Georgia voter data during a training run by bypassing a paywall. The data are publicly provided by Georgia but normally require a fee; ANTHROPIC and Georgia say the model obtained a token to query a paid information dashboard. ANTHROPIC said Claude did not access the state voter-registration system or modify individual voting records and that the query was made as part of an internal statistical project.
