INVESCO Asia-Pacific global markets strategist David Chao said the Bank of
Japan’s inflation assessment is tilted hawkish, creating conditions for a
possible December rate hike. Markets will watch Governor Ueda’s afternoon press
conference for hawkish or dovish signals and for guidance on the scope for
further rate increases. The BOJ unexpectedly said it will accelerate ETF sales
while stating it does not want to disrupt markets; Chao said the move may
unsettle markets initially but is a constructive signal of the central bank’s
confidence in the economy and equity markets.
