The Russian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday its forces struck two power
plants in Ukraine’s Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions. Russia has been striking
Ukrainian energy infrastructure almost daily as temperatures fall. The strikes
also hit a cargo ship off Odesa. The previous day’s missile and drone attacks
caused widespread outages. The attacks occurred while U.S.-mediated peace talks
were due to resume in a week. Ukraine’s emergency services and local officials
reported additional strikes in Poltava, Dnipro, Kirovohrad and Rivne regions and
in Kyiv.
