Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman said Iran and Oman should establish a
mechanism to ensure safe maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. He said
Iran’s objective in managing the strait is to guarantee safe passage through the
waterway. He also said those who committed crimes against Iranians should be
punished, and added that the US has acted in a “war-mongering and
anti-diplomatic” way that has prevented diplomatic progress.
