May 28 — Li Lecheng, Party secretary and minister of the Ministry of Industry
and Information Technology and head of the ministry’s comprehensive reform
leading group, chaired the ministry’s 2026 reform meeting. He urged coordinated,
prioritized reforms to secure a strong start to the 15th Five-Year Plan,
accelerate central reform tasks and fast-track implementation of key measures
from the 20th Central Committee’s Third Plenum decision on deepening reform and
advancing Chinese-style modernization. The meeting called for carrying out
Fourth Plenum deployments, pairing policy support with reform-driven innovation,
and anchoring efforts on achieving new-type industrialization. Key reform
priorities were highlighted preserving a reasonable share for manufacturing,
deepening integration of technological and industrial innovation, advancing
informatization–industrialization convergence, and scaling up specialized,
sophisticated, distinctive and innovative SMEs.
