MOFCOM said Beijing noted the European Commission’s May 29 discussion on
EU‑China relations. It described the EU and China as equal, mutually beneficial
economic partners, urged the EU to abide by WTO rules and uphold free trade and
fair competition, and warned that if the EU unilaterally deploys new trade tools
or discriminatory restrictions, China will adopt resolute countermeasures to
safeguard its interests.
