In a Qiushi article, Science Minister Yin Hejun urged deepening the role of enterprises as China’s primary agents of technological innovation and making firms the driving force behind future industry development. He said enterprises naturally connect science, market and industry and called for stronger enterprise-led industry–university–research integration, support for firms to form innovation consortia, and greater upstream–downstream industry‑chain integration. He asked authorities to cultivate and scale a cohort of technology-leading firms and to tier the development of companies that will underpin future industries. On finance, he urged accelerating a tech‑finance framework aligned with innovation, boosting financial support for tech SMEs, and encouraging long‑term capital to invest earlier, in smaller tickets, for longer durations and into hard tech.

China Coast Guard spokesman Jiang Lue said on June 1 the Daishan flotilla conducted law-enforcement patrols in waters east of Taiwan. He called the patrols a necessary response to Japan and the Philippines’ unilateral announcement to launch delimitation talks in those waters, saying such moves seriously infringe China’s territorial sovereignty and maritime rights. Jiang urged Tokyo and Manila to immediately cease what he described as illegal actions; the China Coast Guard said it will continue to strengthen control of the area to defend national territory and maritime interests.
