The FT on June 2, citing three people, reported the U.S. is discussing whether to deploy nuclear weapons to additional NATO European members. The U.S. already maintains nuclear-capable aircraft in six European countries — Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey and the UK — and U.S. officials have signaled openness to deployments beyond those six. Any expansion would involve allowing more countries to host U.S. dual-capable aircraft (DCA) capable of nuclear delivery, though officials say expanding nuclear-hosting arrangements is not urgent. Poland and some Baltic states have expressed interest; discussions are taking place through NATO channels. The Pentagon and NATO did not respond to requests for comment.
