The National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration said market trading of transmission rights on the Yunxiao DC transmission channel will start on June 1, 2026 under the interim Yunxiao DC Transmission Rights Market Trading Plan, initially permitting monthly and shorter tenors. State Grid and China Southern Power Grid are required to ensure safe, stable channel operation, implement priority-generation scheduling requirements and safeguard power supply to Fujian and Guangdong while orderly integrating the new transmission-rights trading with existing market mechanisms. The notice directs using transmission-rights trading to promote market-based absorption of renewables and to expand cross-province and cross-region green power consumption, and to provide stable expectations for equal participation and efficient use of the channel.
