A Tencent source said the launch timing for a WeChat AI agent is uncertain and
will depend largely on the pace of regulators' approval. With WeChat's roughly
1.4 billion users, the compliance review could be more stringent than for other
products. Tencent had no comment. Media reports that the project is an internal
top-priority, highly classified initiative in preparation since at least 1H 2025
were confirmed by a Tencent source.
