Seasonally adjusted factory shipments rose 4.2% MoM to C$77.05 bln in April,
Statistics Canada said on Monday — the third straight monthly gain and the
largest monthly increase in over four years, but below the agency’s 4.6%
estimate. Sales were up 10.6% YoY. In real (volume-adjusted) terms, shipments
rose 1.8% MoM to C$55.59 bln and were 1.7% higher YoY. Petroleum and coal
products sales jumped 22.6% MoM to C$11.77 bln after a 25.5% gain in March,
driven mainly by higher refinery output; April volumes rose 17.5% MoM.
