The U.S. government on Wednesday granted SandboxAQ $500m to develop new
chemicals and materials for domestic semiconductor manufacturing, including
alternatives to PFAS. The funding is part of CHIPS Act research allocations
directed by President Trump; the program previously committed $150m to new
chip-making equipment and $2bn to quantum computing. SandboxAQ, backed by NVIDIA
(NVDA.O), was valued at $5.75bn in April 2025 and has raised more than $1bn to
date.
