They added some Gulf Arab officials privately share the view, though it may not reflect official government positions. It is unclear what type or level of fees states would accept. The US and Gulf Arab governments continue to oppose any fees imposed by Iran or Oman on passage through the strait.

At the opening of the morning session, most domestic futures contracts declined, with SC crude oil falling over 4%, LPG and European container shipping contracts falling over 3%, methanol falling nearly 3%, fuel oil and low-sulfur fuel oil (LU) falling over 2%, and polypropylene, asphalt, benzene, BR rubber, plastics, paraxylene, polypropylene, ethylene glycol, propylene, coke, polysilicon, and styrene falling over 1%. On the upside, platinum rose over 2%, iron ore and silver rose over 1%, and gold, soybean meal, and pulp rose nearly 1%.
