An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that Qatar, Oman, and Pakistan have continued to contribute to mediation efforts between the United States and Iran in recent days. He also noted that Tehran maintains contact with these three countries, and that "negotiations are ongoing." Analyst Justin Low points out that this last point at least indicates that both sides still have hope of resuming negotiations on the nuclear/uranium issue at some point in the future. At least for now, negotiations do not seem to be taking place immediately. However, there is still a glimmer of hope.

Tropical Storm Bavi, the year’s ninth system, was centered at 08:00 on July 13 over Sixian County, Suzhou, Anhui (33.4°N, 117.9°E) with maximum outer winds of force 8 (20 m/s) and central pressure 992 hPa. Bavi is moving northeast at 10–15 km/h, expected to weaken slowly, cross the Shandong Peninsula into the north Yellow Sea during daytime July 14, and gradually become extratropical after July 15.
