Between July 10 and 12, the number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz decreased by approximately 52% compared to the same period last year. Ships reverted to more cautious navigation routes. Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through Iran and via "hidden channels" increased, while activity along International Maritime Organization (IMO) designated routes and in Omani waters almost completely ceased. Although no attacks have been confirmed by the IMO since June 27, tensions between the US and Iran, along with warnings from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, have kept the commercial shipping industry on high alert.
