U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will chair the first meeting of the Economic Diplomacy Action Group (EDAG) on Wednesday. This mechanism, initially established during the Biden administration, is now two years old. A State Department official stated that the group, comprised of heads of various federal agencies, is tasked with “determining the direction and priorities of U.S. economic policy to advance U.S. foreign policy objectives.” These objectives include “U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence.” Also in attendance are officials from the State Department, Commerce Department, Energy Department, Agriculture Department, Defense Department, and Treasury Department, as well as the heads of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the Development Finance Corporation, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, the Small Business Administration, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
